Committee minutes 4th July 2008 (04/01/2009)

MINUTES FROM COMMITTEE MEETING
4TH JULY 2008

Present: Paul Wilkinson, Colin Godridge, Jane Blackburn, Gareth Blackburn, Andy Coupland, John Storey, Neil Bird.

Apologies: Dave Roughley, Chris Strutt, Steve Burnett

Meeting opened at 20:15 hrs
Committee

1. Last months minutes were not present but were discussed and agreed.

2. Jane stated that the bank balance was looking healthier and there was approx £800.00 in club funds which had been mainly accrued from the gala entries. It was also noted that the books had now been recovered and the FA have been made aware to prevent any action on the letter which had been sent.

3. Jimmy Loyd has now finished as child protection officer. Jane and Ruth Clarke will endeavour to attend West Riding FA child protection meeting on the 28th August non attendance will lead to loss of charter standard.

4. We have been informed that anyone shopping via the club website links which has 600+ shops including Comet, Argos the club will receive a 1-2% donation from what is spent. The club website will be running to its full potential shortly Neil is sorting it all out. Thank you Neil.

5. Pitch allocation for next season has not been published yet. We will not be allowed on Carr Bridge until the winter league commences. Any equipment in the lock up will be allowed out but we will not be able to return it until the winter league starts. It has been noted that the rugby team have been on the pitch despite being told not to. The committee voted to keep off the field until told otherwise to try and score a few brownie points with the parish.

6. Trevor Ford from U10, s has booked matches on Low Ackworth for the next 3 Tuesday evenings. It would be helpful if matches could be played on non training nights as we only have Low Ackworth to play on so a little consideration from all coaches would be appreciated to enable us to share out fairly what we do have.

7. We have acquired a £10 fine from the Charles rice league for non attendance at a meeting. Meetings should be attended by a club representative and ideally shared between each age group not just Dave.

8. A question was put forward about who should provide goalie gloves as the club fund doesn’t include purchase of individual team equipment anymore, it was re-iterated that the club will provide shared equipment i.e. goals, line marker and marking equipment. All individual equipment such as gloves, shin pads should be provided by the player themselves or when a team is in receipt of sponsorship, if funds allow then they could be bought as part of the strip.

Any other business

1. It was decided that now the under 6’s have a reasonable amount of players some weeks they will start and contribute £10 a month to the central club fund. Some weeks only a few players turn up so they would not generate enough income to pay the full £40.

2. Neil still requires input for the website. Photos, what teams we will have next year, team names match results, players names, an email was sent to all team representatives with the club email address so you can send info straight to him. The email address is: ajfc.webmaster@hotmail.com

3. Jane still requires email addresses of as many parents as possible to help with the communication problems we have had in the past. If all parents could email me on g.kblackburn@tiscali.co.uk please put in subject header Ackworth junior contact details and age group. I can then save them in my address book and spiralling information to everyone will become much easier.

4. Neil Bird U9 blues is desperate for a volunteer to help with coaching. His team is too large for him to manage. If he doesn’t get help quickly he has said that in order for him to be able to carry on running the team he will have to reduce player numbers. This may result with him having to hold trials and a team picked from trial results.

5. It was decided by the committee at re-discussion that a £10 registration fee will be brought in per family and anyone not paying will not be registered for the forthcoming winter leagues. All teams will be required to submit a list of registered players to the club. This is a FA requirement.

6. The open top bus had a poor show on Saturday and will not be available for future years if low attendance is expected. The bus cost £220 and around a dozen people turned up.

NEWS

Ackworth U9 Reds are now through to the semi finals of the West Riding Summer League UEFA cup after a tense 2-2 finish against Upton. They will play Ackworth U9 Blues in the semi final who beat Kippax Welfare 2-0 in their final league game to secure their semi final place.
Ackworth U8’s are also through to the semis and will play Castleford Town.

GOOD LUCK TO ALL THE TEAMS.

The under 9 reds recently won at Thornes Gala after a first time win from a penalty shoot out despite having a depleted team. Players were borrowed from U8’s to allow substitutes to be taken in case of injuries.

WELL DONE BOYS YOU WERE BRILLIANT.
