Runaway success for club Fun Run
Ackworth Juniors would like to say a big ‘thank-you’ to all the runners and volunteers who made this year’s club Fun Run a winning one.
The boys and girls, as well as the shadow helping runners, were all brilliant and despite the muddy conditions and the rain, organisers are confident the event was enjoyed by everyone.
We must thank coach Jimmy Lloyd for once again masterminding and overseeing the Fun Run as well as the vital volunteers, who stepped-in to marshall out on the course, assist with the registration, serve-up welcome refreshments in the fantastic fab food tent, as well the helpers who ran a successful raffle too.
The sponsored event set out to boost the club’s coffers as well as support for the Rory James Embling Foundation at Cardiac Risk in The Young charity – we’re still counting the pennies, but we’ll publish a final total as soon as possible.
A special mention must also go to Chris Embling for supporting and handing out medals to all the finishing runners.
Thank you to everyone who supported the raffle including The Card Gallery and First Impressions, as well as Tesco Hemsworth – In the community for the bottles of water for the finishers and Candor Carpet & Flooring for sponsoring the numbers.
Club secretary Graham Ambler said: “I’m chuffed and thrilled that the Fun Run was so well attended by lots of boys and girls from across many age groups. Everyone seemed to cross the finishing line with a smile on their face so hopefully they enjoyed the experience too!
He added: “I believe we had over 120 runners taking part, which considering it was rather wet to say the least is a brilliant effort and shows the strength and support we have for the club, days like today make me very proud to be associated with Ackworth Juniors. I’d just like to say thank-you to the runners and their supporters as well as the army of volunteers assembled by Jimmy Lloyd for making this event bigger and better year-on-year.”
